Daniela Leon is a senior at Kansas State University where she is currently wrapping up her undergraduate degree in Journalism and Mass Communications. Daniela has always had a passion for journalism and while at K-State she was awarded the COHO Digital Media Full Ride scholarship along with a National Association of Hispanic Journalists and Kansas Association of Broadcasters scholarship.

Daniela is proud to say the last year she placed 1st in the Hard News category at the 2014 Kansas Association of Broadcasters awards, and also place 2nd in the Enterprise News category.

Daniela’s journalism accomplishments led her to land an internship with KMBC 9 News over the summer. While at KMBC, Daniela learned to sharpen her reporting skills and eventually got a job working as multi-media journalist for WIBW-TV in Topeka. Daniela is passionate about this multi-media project because it has opened her eyes to the reality of sex-trafficking within our nation.

Meagan Miller

Meagan is a senior in Journalism and Digital Media at Kansas State Univeristy and she is graudating in May 2016. She has a passion for storytelling and loves connecting with people, through people. She is currently looking into job opportunities in news reporting and production.

Meagan recently interned at KMBC, a TV news station in Kansas City. She is currently the president of K-State's SPJ chapter and produces a weekly show for a campus video organization called Wildcat Watch.

This project reminded Meagan of why she is passionate about journalism. She believes the only way to provoke change is to share stories like this and force people to feel something. She loved getting a better understanding of the issue, even though it was hard to handle at some points. She hopes to help people by telling Kristen's story and plans to get more involved with anti-trafficking organizations.

Lindsay is a senior in Journalism & Mass Communications (Digital Media) and will be graduating in December 2015. Following graduation she will be moving to London, England to work alongside a church plant and pursue playing music as a career. Throughout this project she was blown away by the lack of awareness about sex trafficking as well as the strength of the victims and advocates we met. Her hope in doing this project is that it brings continuing knowledge and understanding to the public about this issue.
